Working For The Loss


Trying to make up the shortfall… from being
wrong, maybe, or small,
Who looks deep enough at the ontology
Of it all?

So look! As knowledge of belief in mystery
decreases
Belief in bureaucracy
Is increased!

As if data, as in the facts,
Stated awry
could replace that
old story.

But, as belief in the numinous
Deceases,
And, mankind must be his own buck-stop,
He panics…

Unable to cope, the increasing anxiety attack
is a bout…
A salvo of doubt x doubt, born in secret
as self doubt.

Wanting to get it just so so right, as if just
One more research,
As if just another increment of knowledge
could replace real church.

As if a Will to knowledge could answer for the loss,
the Government towers, towers…
and Canberra bureaucrats are made to work by such a boss,
for long, for longer hours.
